Listen up, wine buffs, Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse is holding an exclusive "Discover California Wine" dinner on June 2 at 7pm, hosted by Karen MacNeil, author of The Wine Bible, and one of the world's foremost authorities on American wines.
Dinner will be a five-course ultra-luxe banquet of lobster bisque with truffles, miso-glazed cod, squab, foie gras, and of course, USDA prime steak roasted at 800 degrees in Roosevelt's signature stone oven.
Wines of the evening are an all-star lineup of the great and goodly from Napa Valley and beyond, including a 2012 Spottswoode sauvignon blanc, a 2012 Freeman Vineyard Russian River Valley pinot noir, Melville Estate's 2012 chardonnay, a Peter Michael Winery Les Pavots Estate Red from 2011, finishing with a 1985 vintage Portuguese port from W&J Graham .
As you might have deduced, this ain't no cheap and cheerful affair, tickets cost RMB1250 (plus 10 percent service) per person. Although considering the sheer amount of food and wine you'd likely consume, it's almost bon marché. Almost.
Seating is extremely limited, so book early to avoid any disappointment.
